A$AP Rocky teaches rap to primary kids in his hometown

A$AP Rocky has officially traded the stage for the whiteboard, heading back to his old stomping grounds at PS 125 in Harlem to become the world’s coolest substitute teacher.

Appearing on the latest episode of Celebrity Substitute, the "L$D" rapper introduced himself to a class of fourth graders as "Mr. Mayers" (complete with a dollar sign on the board, obviously) to give the whānau a masterclass in Rap 101.

The vibe was 100% wholesome as Rocky broke down the art of the craft. He didn’t just talk about lyrics, he connected the dots between rhythm and arithmetic, explaining how bars are basically just counting music. "It’s not only one of the most influential cultural genres, but it’s also just cool as s***," he told the host, before immediately apologising for the slip-up in front of the kids.

Things took a heartfelt turn when a student named Zaire opened up about being bullied. Rocky, now a father of three with Rihanna, sat him down for some real talk. After admitting he’d been through it too, he offered some solid advice: "Take it with a grain of salt... I would recommend doing karate because it’s discipline and it’ll get those bullies off your back."

To wrap the day, Rocky didn’t just leave them with a lecture. He built a professional recording studio right in the hallway so the kids could record their own track, "IDK," over his "Punk Rocky" beat. One student, Nia, went so hard with her bars that Rocky joked he might need to hire her as a ghostwriter.

Seeing one of the biggest names in the game pour back into his community is a major win. Mr. Mayers, we reckon you’ve got a permanent spot on the roster if the music thing doesn’t work out.
