Colossal Ark house in Christchurch looks like AI - but it’s real and for sale

Not your usual Trade Me find!

An Ark-inspired building is up for sale in Christchurch, and it’s so unique, it’s shocking no one has snapped it up.

Sitting up on Clifton Hill in Christchurch, the Ark House has been on the lookout for a buyer since February.

Built back in 2004 by original owners Bev and Ken Loader, the iconic building is being sold by New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty (NZSIR).

And it’s not just a beauty of a building, it’s HUGE! We’re talking 860 square metres spread across three massive levels (or decks, if we’re sticking to the theme).

The Trade Me listing says it’s got potential to be a unique family home, an artist's retreat, or even a collection of bespoke living spaces.

“This is your chance to reimagine a space that's as versatile as it is timeless,” the description reads.

“With its dramatic architecture, breathtaking views, and expansive interiors, this property invites you to craft your vision of a truly unique hillside opportunity.”

The Ark has previously been used as a venue for weddings and events, and it’s not hard to see why you’d want to host there.

Inside, there are vaulted ceilings, exposed wooden beams, a bar, two commercial kitchens, a full-on ballroom, and windows with views of the Alps and Pegasus Bay that honestly look like they were Photoshopped.

Spoiler: they’re not.

The price is listed as “negotiable”, but previously, the Ark had an estimated value of $1.92 million as of 2022, according to Stuff.

I’m not gonna lie, it’s a dream spot, and can you imagine doing the Titanic "I'm flying" move, staring out at that view? Unreal stuff!
