Apple could be changing another port on their upcoming iPhone

Their upcoming event is set to lay out their upcoming products, with some feature changes.

Apple is set to make their annual tech spectacle. The "Wonderlust" event is coming up on September 13th at 5 am NZST and as the event draws nearer, the rumour mill has been churning out speculation about the much-anticipated iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro.

One of the most talked-about potential changes is Apple's departure from its classic Lightning charger.

This port has been a staple in Apple's iPhones for over a decade, but recent regulatory pressure has forced Apple's hand. The European Union's directive mandating the use of USB Type-C charging ports for all mobile phones, tablets, and cameras in the EU has forced Apple to rethink its charger strategy. So soon all those spare chargers in the kitchen drawer or in the car might be a little redundant.

This marks one of the biggest shifts to the iPhone format in years.

Apple has also teased a change to the colour pallet could be on its way. The company posted the Apple logo in grey, blue, and black hinting at the possibility of new iPhone colors.

But the changes don't stop at charging ports and colours. Apple is reportedly considering discontinuing its silicone accessories. This is to make way for a shift towards more eco-friendly alternatives. This transition is expected to be gradual, with the new model's accessories are not refreshed.

The move away from silicone and leather accessories is part of Apple's broader commitment to environmental sustainability.
