Anthemz Gig Guide: Monday 7th of September
Churr, Anthemz legends! The weekend might be over, but that’s no reason to sit on the couch staring at the wall. We’ve scoured Christchurch to bring you the ultimate lineup of epic gigs, late-night sessions, and proper local atmosphere to keep your week firing. This is what we are thinking you should get up to.
Here’s where it’s all kicking off:
Monday — Believe It or Not Quiz Night Where: A Rolling Stone When: 7:00 PM Monday blues? Easy fix. Drop into A Rolling Stone for quiz night. Get the crew together, take on life’s random trivia, and grab a bite while you fight for spot prizes. Top way to start the week with a beer in hand.
Tuesday — Tuesday Night Jam Sessions Where: Fat Eddie's When: 8:00 PM Get down to the strip for some epic live jazz and jam sessions right on the river. Fat Eddie's is bringing top-tier musicians, cold cocktails, and proper balcony views to keep the Tuesday energy high.
Wednesday — Suzanne Vega Live Where: Isaac Theatre Royal When: 7:30 PM Grab a pint and treat yourself to a legend. Iconic singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega is bringing her Flying with Angels Tour to town for a massive show packed with classic hits. Unbelievable sound in an unreal historic venue.
Thursday — Open Mic Night Where: Space Academy When: 7:30 PM Thursday is basically the weekend anyway. Round up the crew, grab a cold one, and check out Space Academy’s Open Mic. Unfiltered local music, epic banter, and up-and-coming talent tearing up the stage.
Friday — Illuminate Lightshow Where: Christchurch Botanic Gardens When: 5:30 PM Clock off work, drop the tools, and get straight into the Friday vibe down at the Botanic Gardens. Illuminate Lightshow has interactive light setups, local music acts, food trucks, and amusement rides firing under the stars. Absolute winner.
Saturday — The Rocketman in Concert Where: Christchurch Town Hall When: 7:30 PM Sort your date out for the night or take the mishes somewhere decent. High-energy live music tearing through all the timeless hits of Elton John. Big lights, massive sound, and an awesome Saturday session guaranteed.
Sunday — Resonance Ensemble: Concert No. 3
Where: The Piano: Centre for Music and the Arts
Cap off your week with proper live orchestration led by conductor Tony Ryan. Head down to The Piano for a Sunday afternoon session packed with rich sound, massive acoustics, and epic live orchestral arrangements.
