Churr, Anthemz crew! If you're looking for an excuse to pull a sickie, knock off early, or just grab a cold one with the boys, we’ve got you sorted. These are the spots we think you should actually be at across Christchurch this week.

Here’s where it’s all kicking off:

Monday — Good Advice, Bad Advice

  • Where: Good Times Comedy Club

  • When: 6:30 PM

Monday blues? Easy fix. Drop into Good Times for Good Advice, Bad Advice. The local comics are taking on life’s random problems with a bit of real talk and a whole lot of absolute shockers. Top way to start the week with a beer in hand.

Tuesday — The Wolves

  • Where: The Court Theatre

  • When: 6:30 PM

Get a bit of local drama into ya. The Court Youth Company is putting on The Wolves a fast, sharp play following a high school girls' soccer team. Expect heaps of banter, proper pre-game chaos, and zero filter.

Wednesday — Nerd Nite Christchurch

  • Where: A Rolling Stone

  • When: 6:30 PM

Grab a pint and pretend you're working on your brain power. Nerd Nite is back at A Rolling Stone with fast, funny talks on random subjects. Think TED Talks, but in a pub with good beer and solid banter.

Thursday — Around the World

  • Where: Little High Eatery

  • When: 6:00 PM

Thursday is basically the weekend anyway. Round up the crew and smash some top-tier food at Little High for their Around the World night. Legendary street food, cold drinks, and zero cooking required too easy.

Friday — City Night Market

  • Where: The Arts Centre

  • When: 5:00 PM

Clock off work, drop the tools, and get straight into the Friday vibe down at The Arts Centre. The City Night Market has all the best food trucks, local stalls, and awesome tunes under the lights. Spot on for a couple of Friday night treats.

Saturday — Candlelight: Ed Sheeran Meets Coldplay

  • Where: The Great Hall (The Arts Centre)

  • When: 8:30 PM

Sort your date out for the night or take the mishes somewhere decent. It’s thousands of candles in the Great Hall, unreal acoustics, and a string quartet tearing through hits from Ed Sheeran and Coldplay. Absolute winner.

Sunday — Open Mic Night

  • Where: The Publican

  • When: 4:00 PM

Finish off your Sunday session supporting the local up-and-comers (or jump up and give it a crack yourself if you're game!). Head down to The Publican for a relaxed arvo of live tunes, cold ones, and good yarns.
