Amber Heard says her disappointment in Johnny Depp trial verdict is 'beyond words'

The jury awarded Johnny Depp over $10 million in damages which Heard says is "heart-breaking".

The trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard came to a close this morning with the jury reaching their verdict.

The trial, which spanned six weeks, saw Depp sue Heard for $50 million USD for defamation after her 2018 op-ed, which described herself as "a public figure representing domestic abuse".

Even though Depp was not named in the article, he is claiming it has cost him his career and potential roles.

Heard filed a counterclaim for $100 million USD after Depp's lawyers said her allegations were a hoax.

The jury awarded Depp $10.35 million in damages, with the actor winning both counts of defamation while Heard lost two out of her 3 counts, with the Jury awarding her $2 million in damages.

Depp quickly shared a statement on Instagram saying he was 'truly humbled' while Heard was left feeling the complete opposite.

Also posting on Instagram, Heard has said she's not only disappointed in the verdict for herself, but also with "what this verdict means for other women".

"It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated."
