After a 16-year wait to return to football’s biggest stage, the All Whites have found a new World Cup legend.

New Zealand kicked off their FIFA World Cup 2026 with a 2-2 draw against Iran in Los Angeles, and it was Elijah Just who took it into his own hands (well, feet).

The 26-year-old has secured his name in the history books, scoring both of New Zealand’s goals in the match.

Not only were they the All Whites' first World Cup goals in 16 years, but Just also became the first NZ player to score multiple goals in a single World Cup match.

And if you thought that was impressive - it all happened on his FIFA World Cup debut!

The moment wasn’t just massive for the players on the pitch, but for NZ fans watching around the world - including right there in the SoFi Stadium stands.

The lads from the 'Between Two Beers' podcast were there and shared their reaction as it unfolded.

"History made in real time!!! 🤯," they wrote alongside a video celebrating with the parents of fellow All Whites Callan Elliot and Tyler Bindon.

The scenes in the crowd are enough to give you immediate goosebumps - the passion truly is something else.

The celebrations have kicked off online too, with broadcaster Patrick Gower jumping into the comments, writing: "HOW GOOD! Love this.”

"Bloody BRILLIANT!!!! UP THE ALL WHITES!!!💪👏," added another fan.

A third fan took to X calling the game a “masterclass”.

“It was by far the most entertaining football,” they added.

The All Whites have also reshared fan footage from a packed pub, capturing the moment supporters erupted after Just scored.

While the result itself was impressive, the match will likely go down as the moment Just proved himself on the world stage.
