Alexa Chung confirms engagement to Tom Sturridge

Alexa Chung has officially confirmed she is engaged to actor Tom Sturridge.

The 42-year-old model and presenter has broken her silence on their relationship status, dishing about her antique Tudor engagement ring, which a friend warned could "be haunted".

"My engagement ring is a Tudor... Tom knows how much I adore vintage and antiques, and he got me a beautiful Tudor ring. It's like a table-cut diamond," Chung spilled to More Or Less magazine.

The former Popworld presenter explained that it reminded her of the jewellery worn in Henry VIII's court, including by Anne Boleyn, his ill-fated second wife, whom he famously had executed.

"When I went to the National Portrait Gallery and looked at images of Anne Boleyn and all the other people who perished at the hands of Henry VIII, a lot of them had these rings on," she explained.

However, after telling her hairstylist about the ring's backstory, he exclaimed, "Oh my god, I think your ring is haunted."

"He took it off my finger and started making wishes around it and blowing on it. So I hope that my ring isn't haunted. Or do I? Because that's iconic," she quipped.

Chung and Sturridge went public with their relationship in 2022, sharing a kiss at Wimbledon.

This is the first time Chung has commented on her engagement, which was initially rumoured in June 2023 after she was spotted leaving a birthday party with a ring on her left hand. The speculation reignited in 2024, when she was again pictured wearing a ring during Paris Fashion Week.

Sturridge, 40, shares a 14-year-old daughter named Marlowe with his ex-girlfriend Sienna Miller. Miller and Chung are good friends.
