'We’re bonded': Alex Warren holds ashes of Kiwi fan's parent at Auckland show

The way he didn't bat an eyelid before grabbing the bag.

Most singers get handed fan-made signs and souvenirs during their gigs... not US singer Alex Warren.

While performing at The Civic Theatre in Auckland on Monday, Kiwi fan Faith Anderson held up an unmissable sign that caught the singer’s attention.

“I brought my mum with me,” it read. Another clarified: “In a ziplock bag.”

The interaction was filmed by another concertgoer, who shared the clip to TikTok with the caption: “Alex Warren held her and she didn’t even know it.”

In the clip, the 'Ordinary' singer asked: “This might be disrespectful, can I see her?”

The ashes were then passed up to Warren on stage, who joked: “Oh my god, our parents look identical. They must have been switched at birth.”

Warren, who first rose to fame on TikTok as part of the group Hype House, has often shared his dark sense of humour about the loss of his parents.

His father died from kidney cancer when he was just nine years old, and his mother passed away in 2021 from liver and renal failure after struggling with alcohol addiction.

“Thank you so much for relating to me in a very traumatic way,” Warren said as he handed the ashes back into the crowd. “Now we’re bonded together, and you have to come to every single show.”

When asked where her dad was, Anderson replied: “At home.” And in true Warren-style humour, she captioned her own TikTok: “Maybe next time I’ll have my dad in a ziplock too 😜.”

One thing’s for sure, it was a show he won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
