From Worship to Fisher, Auckland DJ ONIT is giving punters something to do after the main event.

Auckland DJ, ONIT, has quietly been running a streak of bootleg afterparties popping up straight after some of the biggest gigs in the country. No tickets. No flyers. Just a trailer, speakers, and a crowd that refuses to go home.

The latest one? Right after the massive Worship show in Auckland over the weekend, and it happened directly in front of the police.

ONIT dropped a vlog on Instagram showing exactly how the whole thing came together, from rolling up with the gear to firing up the decks while punters flooded in.

Now here’s where it gets wild – the cops didn’t shut it down. In fact, they seemed… impressed?

In a follow-up video, ONIT is literally chatting to police at the Domain, where they call the setup “pretty impressive.”

Only a few weeks ago, he pulled the same move after Fisher's gig at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui, whipping together a pop-up party that felt like the unofficial encore no one knew they needed.

George Breakfast caught up with ONIT to talk about the latest pop-up, and honestly, the man knows exactly what he’s doing.

“Every time we do one, we’re just levelling it up even more,” he said.

“Started off, no one was there, and then over time, it’s just getting bigger and bigger.”

ONIT says the motivation is simple.

“Everyone loves it, so I gotta keep doing it.”

As for how he even managed to get into the Worship site in the first place?

“They had it coned off, and I pretty much told them I’m part of production.”

Some would say cheeky, some might even say bold.
