Air fryer fanatics turn hot cross buns into "chips" that taste like churros

Hot cross bun churro chips? Yes please!

If you want to step-up your regular hot cross bun - have we got a treat for you!

The internet is going wild for hot cross bun chips, which have been best described as an Easter-themed churro. Cut into sticks, then coated in cinnamon and sugar, these baked little bun sticks then turn into crispy churro-like treats in the airfryer, and taste excellent with some chocolate dipping sauce, or maybe yoghurt if you're trying to be (a little) healthier.

Watch how to make one below, or check out the full recipe below:

Ingredients

  • 3 traditional fruit hot cross buns

  • 50g butter, melted

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

  • 3 Tbsp caster sugar

  • ¼ cup store-bought chocolate sauce

Method

Cut each bun in half widthways, separating the top and bottm, then each half into 3 short sticks

Place all your cut buns into a bowl. Drizzle and toss the melted butter, making sure each stick is evenly coated.

Sprinkle cinnamon over the top, and toss to coat.

On a plate and in batches, press your sticks in the sugar mixture to coat on all sides.

Arrange your sticks in a single layer, in the basket of your air fryer. Set temperature to 180C and time to 8 minutes, cooking until golden.

Serve hot, with chocolate sauce (or whatever dipping sauce you desire!) on the side.
