The Ellen DeGeneres Show has come to a close, and the now-controversial TV presenter revealed an unexpected detail from when the show first started.
The 64-year-old, who launched the show in 2003, revealed a shocking revelation at the end of season 19.
Ellen also added, "I couldn't say 'we' because that implied that I was with someone. Sure couldn't say wife [...] because it wasn't legal for gay people to get married."
She also discussed her 1990s comedy 'Ellen', which was cancelled in 1998, after her character came out
She added that if she hoped to accomplish anything in the past 19 years, it would be to inspire people to be their 'true, authentic selves.'
The final episode featured interviews with Billie Eilish and Jennifer Aniston, before close friend P!nk came out as the final guest.
DeGeneres then said her final goodbyes in the same way she started the first episode, sitting on a couch and turning off the TV as the stage doors closed behind her.
