Every week, there's a new TikTok song doing the rounds that we can't get out of our heads.
You might have heard of Lola Young, an artist from the UK who has blown up on TikTok for her song 'Don't Hate Me'.
You might recognise her as the girl who sings in public places around London including parks, playgrounds, fish and chip shops, and on bridges around the city.
The line you'll probably recognize that got us hooked is 'You say that I'm really f*cking boring. Well, that's rich coming from you'.
After she shared her tune with her 471K TikTok followers, it blew up with over 200 thousand people using the sound on the platform including Bella Hadid and Kylie Jenner.
HUGE.
Although Lola is far from a one-time TikTok trend.
She's managed by two major names in the music industry - Nick Shymanksy, who was Amy Winehouse's manager, and Nick Huggett who originally signed Adele.
Shymanksy, who managed Winehouse from 1999-2006 before her death in 2011, swore he'd never manage another artist until Lola came along.
With this headstart, she's definitely one to look out for.
She was nominated for the Rising star award at the 2022 BRIT awards and recently was hand-chosen by James Corden to perform her song 'FAKE' on his late show.
Her TikTok hit 'Don't Hate Me' was released in early March and her 10-track project 'My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely' will be released on 26th May this year.
Producer Cal from Edge Afternoons caught up with her on a video call all the way from her flat in South London.
One thing he asked was about the secrets behind her viral TikTok videos where she sings in public places.
They also had a chat about the influence of her manager Nick Shymansky who previously managed Amy Winehouse and swore he would never work with another artist.
"It's a lot of pressure cause I was like woah, these two big dogs are coming into my life" she said when discussing signing with her managers Shymanksy and Hugett.
"He was someone that was very close to Amy and cared about Amy a lot," she said discussing manager Nick and Amy Winehouse's relationship.
She continued on to explain how at the end of the day, they're all just normal people.
"He's a friend, he's a manager, he's a human being," she said.
