Indian cinema loves making sequels. But a threequel? That requires a completely different level of commitment. It means the characters have truly earned their place, the cinematic universe is strong enough to hold, and the filmmakers are confident enough to go back to the well one more time.

Right now, Bollywood has a massive pipeline of third installments in the works. While first-look images are still under wraps, the hype is very real. Here is a breakdown of every major threequel headed our way.

1. Drishyam 3

  • Status: Post-production

  • Release Date: October 2, 2026 (Gandhi Jayanti)

  • The Vibe:“October 2nd ko Goa gaye the…”Drishyam 3 is the closest to the finish line on this list. Filming has officially wrapped, and director Abhishek Pathak has confirmed the project is deep in post-production. Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Shriya Saran are all reprising their roles for the suspense thriller, which naturally drops on Gandhi Jayanti—a date of massive significance to the franchise's lore. This time, the tension amplifies with powerhouse new additions Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj joining the cast.

2. Pushpa 3: The Rampage

  • Status: Pre-production

  • The Vibe: The fire is far from out.

Director Sukumar has officially confirmed that Pushpa 3 is in active pre-production, serving as the final, explosive chapter of the gritty saga. Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna will return as Pushpa Raj and Srivalli. Adding fuel to the hype machine, intense online speculation suggests that Vijay Deverakonda is being considered as a potential new antagonist. 3. Border 3

  • Status: Greenlit

  • The Vibe: Unstoppable box office patriotism.

Following the juggernaut success of Border 2 in early 2026, producers Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta (JP Dutta Films) barely let the dust settle before greenlighting Border 3. Sunny Deol will continue to lead the charge, alongside Varun Dhawan, who successfully integrated into the high-octane war franchise with this year's sequel.

4. Stree 3

  • Status: Officially Announced

  • Release Date: August 13, 2027

  • The Vibe:O Stree, kal mat aana... par 2027 mein zaroor aana.

After Stree 2 completely rewrote Bollywood box office history in 2024 to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of that year, a third chapter was inevitable. Maddock Films has locked in an August 2027 release date. Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao are back under the direction of Amar Kaushik. Better yet? Akshay Kumar, whose wild cameo in the second film left audiences screaming, is expected to return in a pivotal role.

5. Hera Pheri 3

  • Status: Production delayed to late 2026

  • Expected Release: 2027

  • The Vibe:Dena hai toh paisa de, re baba!

Easily the most turbulent journey on this list—and perhaps the most eagerly awaited. After years of public walkouts, legal disputes, and script reworks, director Priyadarshan has confirmed that filming will not begin until late 2026. Despite the delays, one thing remains sacred: the original trio of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal (Raju, Shyam, and Baburao) are locked in. Fans refuse to accept anything less.

6. Gadar 3

  • Status: Scripting / Early Development

  • The Vibe: The hand pump legend continues.

Decades after Tara Singh first tore a hand pump out of Pakistani soil and cemented himself as a legendary cinematic force, director Anil Sharma is reviving the saga once more. Work on Gadar 3 has officially commenced. Sunny Deol is locked to return to his career-defining role, with Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma also expected to round out the family unit.

7. KGF: Chapter 3

  • Status: Script Complete

  • The Vibe: Rocky Bhai is playing the long game.

Hombale Films has already teased fans with a celebratory video promising the next chapter of the monstrously popular KGF universe. Director Prashanth Neel has confirmed that the screenplay is locked, loaded, and ready to shoot. However, lead star Yash has noted that the cameras will roll only "when the time is right." It requires some patience, but the return of the kingpin is absolutely guaranteed.
