A massive wave of industrial action is set to hit the public sector today as 10,000 workers prepare to walk off the job. Speaking exclusively to The Breakfast Show with Vijay and Pooja, PSA National Secretary Duane Leo detailed the growing frustration among workers facing severe cost-of-living pressures, frozen baseline budgets, and mounting job insecurity.
The union highlighted widespread anxiety over government announcements regarding artificial intelligence, which threaten to eliminate thousands of public service roles without prior consultation.
In addition to wage disputes, workers are reeling from ongoing cuts and the looming threat of automation replacing human expertise across key agencies.
With thousands of roles already eliminated and further restructuring underway, the union argues that sub-1% pay offers fail to keep pace with inflation. Tomorrow's walkout marks a critical turning point as public servants demand fair compensation, job security, and long-term stability.
