A day at the movies to raise money for the victims of Clyclone Gabrielle has been announced to hit big screens up and down the motu next weekend.
Celebrate Maori filmmaking on March 12 at Silky Otter Cinema locations in Orakei and Ponsonby in Tamaki Makaurau/Auckland, Wigram in Otautahi/Christchurch, and Richmond in Whakatu/Nelson.

With 100% of proceeds will be donated to help the communities Te Tairawhiti & Ngati Kahungunu it's definitely a day to get amongst and support not only our iconic Maori films but come together yet again as a community.

Chelsea Winstanley and Tweedie Waititi of Matewa Media expressed their appreciation for the support.
Taika Waititi has shown his support in Instagram posts along with a message encouraging Kiwis to do what they can to help.
"Aotearoa! Kia ora whanau. As you probably know, a lot of our areas on the coast were hit HARD by that b****, Cyclone Gabrielle. A lot of people lost everything and here's something we can do to help."
Taika also posted images of the destruction caused by the devastating cyclone.
